Re: 2017 Orchid Festivals

Mrs. Wu had a sales booth at the Fall 2016 AOS Members' Meeting in October at The Huntington. I didn't see many significant phalaenopsis offerings at all. Maybe a few oldies left over from earlier years. The sales booth was mostly stocked with relatively common orchids of very good quality across mu...

Re: Sedona's Spotted Leopard

Several good points I can think of right off the bat.

1. It's a wonderful flower.
2. It's registered.
3. The name is somewhat descriptive.
4. I can pronounce it.

Re: 15th International Slipper Symposium

Sorry didn't see this sooner I'm planning to be there Thursday night thru Saturday. Look forward to meet you. Peter is being a little bit modest. Not only will he be there, he is a very important part of the program! Peter will be making a presentation entitled "Novelty Phalaenopsis Hybridizing" ri...

Welcome, Mark - what a great setup you have! Of course, well... you already know this... but it needs to be bigger :)

Re: Priority Mail and 14 days wait

The system worked well this week. Peter shipped plants to me yesterday and they arrived today.

Which brings me to the next point...

Peter, why did you let me buy so many plants?!?!?

Re: A Good Day for Pics

Still no rainbow JSC's? For the next remake, maybe you could convince Mrs. Wu to bring a prop of that "special" Buena Jewel to Redland next year - but be sure to have Mike The Negotiator in attendance as the initial price is likely to be steep.

Re: Phal. (Samba x Yungho Gelb Canary) x Hauer Jin Diamond

This is a first blooming for me. I hope this beauty gets a grex name soon because I can never remember this name. http://pic80.picturetrail.com/VOL858/3103077/20796423/345322491.jpg Brooke *sigh* Almost six years later and still no grex name for even the pod parent, let alone the hybrid itself. Min...

Re: F11-15 Phal Pylo's Giga Eagle

Frank Smith wanted everyone to know that he's going to be presenting several excellent examples of Peter's incredibly successful hybridizing program, including this beautiful Phal. Pylo's Giga Eagle 'Crystelle', in the exhibition tent at the Redland Orchid Festival this weekend. http://www.krullsmit...

Re: AOS Website - Print your existing award certificate

It is a wonderful feature of the AOS website. One tweak I would like to see to improve this feature would be to have the signature of the AOS president who was actually in office at the time the plant was awarded appear on the certificate.

Phalaenopsis Ken Avant = (Golden Sun x Brecko Cordablaze)

This is a great example of how much better a flower can get on a large, robust plant.
This is one of the flowers on the mother plant. Photo shot in Frank Smith's greenhouse by Greg Allikas.
The color is absolutely accurate.

I love this one. I got a very nice plant of this hybrid from Wu at the Miami WOC. Good grower, reliable bloomer and you can't help but smile every time you look at it.

I reported this and it turns out the issue already has their attention. We can expect an improvement relatively soon.
