Nice to finally be aboard : )

Loved orchids since 6 years old (dad was into cymbidiums :snooty: ) and developed a taste for Phalaenopsis at around age 14. Finally admitted to myself i was an orchid nut at age 30 then bought my own hothouse at age 32 . Am now 34, hopelessly addicted and know i will be hooked until the day i die.

GH when i was starting out:

Welcome, Mark - what a great setup you have! Of course, well... you already know this... but it needs to be bigger :)

G'day, mate! You've come to the right place for Phal addicts. Was going to say your greenhouse needs more orchids based on your first photo, but heaved a sigh of relief after scrolling down.

And, yes, Scott is correct - if you're going to be growing out10-20 flasks from Peter, you're going to need a bigger greenhouse!

Nice greenhouse! It's my dream to build one in the near future, but for now I can only live vicariously through all the amazing pics people have posted here.

Nearly all the FS phallies you can see are supermarket rescues i've bought from $2 - $5 :) - my thinking behind this was i thought i'd better get a bit of experience under my belt before attempting to keep more expensive and "finickity" specimens. Am hoping to eventually be able to take plants in flower into work (i am a nurse) to brighten up wards for the patients and my colleagues.

thanks for reading guys - hoping peter will come into the thread and comment. seems a pretty busy man though ! : )

Mark, you have a very nice setup. I like it very much. If I'm to build another greenhouse - maybe more like a sunroom, I would love to have a koi pond like yours...and have plants surrounding it.

this is just awesome.

what are you going to buy at SGF ? am having a bit of a rethink about my list, realistically i can't look after many more plants unless i had another greenhouse : /

I have taken out a few things from my list because a few sellers here in Jakarta have imported some things in my list.

For Phals I'm mainly looking to get non Indonesian species, but also looking for violacea indigo and unusual variant/forms of Indonesian species like amboinensis flavum, or dark red form of venosa from Joseph Wu

For dendrobium my top of the list is Den victoria-regina and for Vandaceous probably Phillipines species like V. lamellata, ustii, luzonica, roeblingiana and such

Thanks for helping me further downsizing the list! Haha
