Hi everyone!!!

I am Ruby. I just started growing orchids for about a year. I mostly grow fragrant plants. The reason for starting to grow orchids was because relatively (compared to how big citrus, jasmines get, etc.) , they are space savers- at least with my novice experience, they don't get that big that quickly.

I just moved to Houston about a week ago from Kentucky. Of course, SUCH A BIG CHANGE FOR WEATHER!!! Due to the move, most of my plants are suffering a bit. I live in an apartment with western exposure; however, I only get direct blazing sun for about a couple of hours. Right now, my orchids are outside (*cringe,* I have never grown orchids outside before...but this new set up means not a lot of sun indoors, so outside they go for now). I got a shade cloth so most of the plants don't get direct sunlight. I am loving the humidity for my orchids, but is pretty apprehensive of what this new environment is going to be like (so far...before the shade cloth come in the mail, there was a lot of sunburn...).

I LOVE BIG LEAF!!! Phalaenopsis have such beautiful color. I hope scents are gonna be awesome as well. Below is a picture of Phalaenopsis Rare Vintage 'Patrick' from Peter! It smells lovely, I hope the scent is stronger.

Welcome Ruby! I hope you like Houston. I am sure you will adjust. I moved from Western New York to Orlando and it was a big adjustment but I love it now. I am sure you will get the hang of growing outside, I did.
Your Rare Vintage Patrick is lovely. The forum has a lot of information and beautiful pictures, enjoy!
Tina
