Hello from the Philadelphia area

Hello Everyone! My name is Steven. I live near Philadelphia, PA. I am a programmer by day and a glass blower and horticulturist by night. For years, I have been primarily growing nepenthes and drosera. Several years ago I started working from home. To keep me company, I set up a grow space in my office. The new space started filling up quickly with carnivorous plants. Then one day, about a year and half ago, I decided to buy two mini phals from my local hardware store to “give orchids a try” (“try again” that is – I failed with a phrag many years ago). Everything went well with my two new charges. They finished blooming. I continued to take care of them and watched, with excitement, as new roots and leaves grew. Eventually, they both started to grow spikes and eventually bloom. That was it, I was hooked, shortly after that I had 30+ orchids and my grow space tripled in size (losing office furniture in the process). I have acquired mostly phals (species and hybrids) but I also have bulbophyllum, oncidium intergenerics, dendrobium, psychopsis and cattleya. I am looking forward to learning a lot more and growing my collection.
