Hola from Tejas!

Post by Cylon5 » Tue May 23, 2017 8:06 am

I'm Shannon, and I'm in the Ft. Worth TX area. I grew up gardening, landscaping and such, but my wife and I got into orchids in 2010. Still have orchid #1 (which is Phal. Venetian Peach 'Peach Delight.'). Unfortunately some slugs ate on it last year so it is tattered looking now.
My interest had shifted from phals into other orchids, but meeting Peter and seeing his phals renewed that interest.
Anyway, still learning and getting into new aspects of the ordhid hobby/addiction. Hopefully I'll eventually get a green house too.
Hi. I'm an orchiholic.

Hey Shannon. Welcome. Great to meet you at FWOS show recently.
I also have Phal Venetian Peach. One of my favorite. It bloomed with 2 spikes. It needs to be repotted this year.
Most of us orchid addicts love various genus besides Phalaenopsis.

Welcome from northwest of Fort Worth. I live there for 15 years and first met Peter at a Fort Worth orchid show.

hello from Beaumont TX
and can I ask you a question, Shannon?

I would like to ask how do you deal with the water in fort worth?
My sister in law lives there, the water there is really hard.
I'm thinking moving there, but kind of worry about the water even with the water soften system

Hey Johnny
We buy water from Fort Worth most of which are surface water.
I collect rainwater and add a bit tap water to water my orchids.
