Today we want to invite you to our little orchid room - especially for those of you who still think we own a greenhouse ;) - unfortunately not (yet 8) )

As you know from our other threads we keep many miniature orchids in our vivarium, have some in the small greenhouse on the kitchen windowsill, some in the orchidlightstand in the living room and also other rooms with big windows like the one here in our living room. So there's some space for a few orchids

Our Orchidroom

Very cool! I like it! I am curious in one of the earlier photos, is that a clay saucer turned on its side and hung from above? Interesting idea. Does it work well for you?

Sylvi, you can't fool us: it's a greenhouse in disguise. You know, some camouflage German engineering deal. :) Thanks for sharing.

Lovely, Sylvi!!! And after seeing those pics, you're gonna have a hard time convincing us you don't have a 'green house'!!!

Dear Sylvi, it looks wonderful! And it sure looks like that the plants are very happy! I especially like the living room arrangement with Minimarks! Never fancied them but in this way they look adorable!

Sylvi,

So nice that your orchids are willing to share their home with you and Olaf.

One question -- what direction does your living room window face?

Looks awesome.

LED lighting? And does the high humidity peel the paint off the walls?

Yes, they share their home with us :D - and the window faces towards south-west. Morning hours give indirect light - noon the sun is to high up to harm them and during afternoon hours nice direct sunlight. If sun's to strong there's also a lucent roller apron to get some shade for the hanging baskets. Thank's! :D

There are T5 neon tubes - LED not yet ;) - no, walls are dry, humidity is not that high, one door is "closed" with a curtain as you can see in the picture with the fan (which provides the necessary ventilation every hour for 20min or so - Olaf isn't here right now so I have to ask later - he's the technician  )
We love to live in a neat and tidy home - even with our "orchid fever" - so it wouldn't be an option to live in a house with the paint coming off the walls ;) :D

Thank's Peter - but it's so small compared to your greenhouse Image

Sylvie,

I really like the setup. That's the kind of lighting I need for my grow space. Unfortunately, my space is much smaller than the room you have!

Excellent pics and beautiful plants! :)
