That is great Sylvi! Now we've gotta see what grows.
Read all about my adventures in Going Postal and Making Money by Terry Pratchett.
Oh, did I mention I'm a horrible speller?
I have pallens to trade, anyone interested?

Moist, Adrienne - thank you! I'm so curious whether there are some fertile seeds in the capsule

Sylvi, are you going to sow the pod yourself?

Alain, in this case we found a hobbyist who offered help - he has a small laminar flow and examins the seeds under the microscope (to see whether there are embryos or not) before sowing. I still want to sow myself but I don't have the time at the moment

Great like that you will know quite soon what will happen with this cross.

Yes, indeed time is always the problem, alas only 24hrs a day...

Our friend told me that the Mini Mark x equestris coerulea was (most likely) empty just filled with a bit "wadding". Nevertheless he put it on three glasses medium in case there are a few seeds (what I don't believe, but I knew the chances are more than low before) they get a chance ;)

There are still two other capsules going and I'm still hoping to finally get one with ripe seeds 8)

Update

Last week I got the message that nothing happened with the three glasses "Mini Mark x equestris coerulea" - so I need another try...

One capsule is looking really good but will need another 2-3 monthes to go. Keep your fingers crossed for me - this capsule looks really good to me, it looks so huge, green and healthy :)

Update - the capsule I was telling you about looks to my inexperienced eye still pretty good and quite huge. :) Flower was pollinated on April the 19th so it should soon be ready, still feels hard and hasn't started to yellow, yet.

Image

I pollinated two other flowers, need to take photos of the plants later. One was on the 1st of october, another one I might not be lucky with ;) - Phal. I-Hsin Salmon 'Copper Star' x Phal. Mini Mark   But I tried anyway. :shifty:

Maybe someone with more experience can correct me, but that pod looks to me like it is not fat enough. If I had to bet, I would bet it will be empty or nearly so. I hope I am wrong!

Oh Lou, you know, that's the first capsule I've got that looks so "good" and "healthy" to my inexperienced eyes, as I said Image
I hope you're wrong, too - but I fear with your experience you'll be right...

Yes, the outside looks great, but see how deep the ribs are? It is like there isn't much filling it. At this late stage, if it were really full of seeds, I don't think the ribs would be so deep. But don't worry yet, there could still be some seeds in it. Even if there are only a couple thousand instead of a million, you would still have enough seeds....

Don't cry Sylvi, just make sure whoever does the labwork to scrape down the insides well. Not much or any seed was in my Equalacea x violacea pod, but about 20-25 plants are now growing in media.

Lou, Adrienne - sorry for my belated "thank you" for your comments.
Today I found the capsule (the one above with the blue pen) and it was burst open. Seeds already falling out like dust. I packed it in an envelope and plan to send it off on Monday. Keep your fingers crossed that I was lucky this time :shifty:
