F8-35 Gemstone Brigadier Star x JGC 'J Wu'

Post by jkainemd » Sun Oct 21, 2012 10:02 am

Here are the parents followed by the first bloom. Difficult to photograph accurate color rendition--yellow green but a little muddy. I have two other seedlings but they are another year away from blooming. I originally bought a compot from Peter. Who got a flask? I always have thought this cross had real potential. You can see from the photo that the spike is very short. Jeff

Like it very much. Is there micholitzii in the background keeping the spike short?

Good job Jeff. I like this cross very much. I sold my plant of Gemstone Brigadier Star after I made this cross. I hope that I will eventually bloom one to keep since I like gigantea hybrid.

Yes, if I'm seeing things right, one parent is Yungho Gelb Canary, which is mostly micholitzii and amboinensis.

I only saw Brigadier Star for the first time some couple months ago. Just an awesome flower. I also really love the cross here. That flower looks spectacular.

Very cool flower. You never know how YGC is going to let the color through... or not.
