Nice one. Did you get a compot and do you have more coming in bloom?

Hi Jackie,

Yes I did get this in a mini compot. The 1st. to bloom was an orangish shade but was a little too reflexed. This is the only one I have left from the cross. I let the others go in a trade.

Thanks Steve. Great job growing and flowering this hybrid. I like your choice. It looks to have good substance and color combination. I am really hoping for a reddish orange flower with good form. I've only flower 1 from this cross and it's not a keeper. Please feel free to post the other pictures if you care to. It's educational.

F8-22 Phal Pylo's Texas Heat 'Orange#1'
(Taida Lawrence 'Peter Lin' HCC/AOS X Krull's Red Hot 'Red Leather')

This is flowering from a compot. Nice art-shade. I think that Steve has bloomed one similar to this color. Flower is large. Color is really awesome. But I am disappointed with the flower form. I have repotted this so we will see what it can do in another year. I have this flask since 2008, and I'm just getting around to repot the compots. :(

I really like the color and lip, Peter. Let's hope the form improves next year. :)

A customer posted a flower of this hybrid on slipper talk.
It's the best flower I've been from this cross. Form stays flat like pod parent Taida Lawrence...and color came from Krull's Red Hot. I still have several of these crowded in compot. One day I will repot them individually so they can have the space/resouces to flower properly. It's always more encouraging when you see good result that compells you to repot plants. :)

Is it okay to link it this way, Peter?

orchid527 wrote:This is Taida lawrence x Krull's Red Hot. I purchased a flask of these several years ago from Peter Lin and the first two to bloom were keepers. They are vigorous growers and the color is stable. Flowers are a little over 7 cm and well presented on the spike. I think it has potential. I'm pretty sure the Krull's Red Hot is a tetraploid and I'm guessing the Taida Lawrence is too.

No - because I am asking this customer for his permission. I am waiting for his reply that it is okay to use his picture.

Sorry Guys. Should have posted the pic here first since others also purchased flasks.
The first flower is the one posted on slippertalk. I cannot say enough good things about this plant. The flowers are very flat and well presented on a strong spike and there is little change in color as the flower matures. The second photo is of the second to bloom. It is a little rough, but I suspect it will look better next year. All of the plants from this cross have been robuts growers and I have another 25-30 yet to bloom.

Hey Mike,

I got your pm on slippertalk. Thank you for posting pictures here. I enjoy your pictures and I am glad that a few of these are good flowers. I like red and orange colors so these are what I was hoping to achieve. The ones I flowered did not hold its form well, but my plant was small flowering from compot. I am very behind on repotting so this is not a surprise.
Now if these flowers are also fragrant, then they would be perfect. I know Phal Brother Lawrence is fragrant but I haven't noticed fragrance in Phal Taida Lawrence.

Peter

Peter

I don't recall ever checking to see if these were fragrant. They were towards the back of the shelf and there were other "stinkers" in the area.
