Phalaenopsis bellina
(bellina (blue wide petals) X bellina 'Joy' AM/AOS)

When I made this cross I wasn't expecting coerulea color from pod parent. The majority of this cross should produce normal color form of Phalaenopsis bellina. Here is one of the first to bloom in Taiwan. Expecting some of these to have very nice round flowers - which is my goal of making this cross.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so hopeful to flower a good one. The plants are growing well. I am pushing the largest a bit, giving them so much light that all the root tips are purple and daytime temperature is around 80 degrees f. All of the largest plants are currently making up new leaves and I do so hope that when those leaves "solidify," the plants will turn their energy attention to spikes.

As to blue tones, my interest in this particular cross was shape, and that from something "new blooded" which clearly this is. Didn't Norman's cross of a coerulea x one of his best tipo colored ones give some coeruleas? In any event, if you sibbed F1706, what percentage would you expect to be coerulea-ish?

Congratulations, Peter. In this case, the wait for the first bloom seems longer than it really was because the wait is influenced by the higher potential of the cross, which always seems to make time move more slowly.

What a nice way to start up the F-17 xx file!!

This is great to see it flowering already. I don't see any spikes yet on mine, but I suspect my seedlings from your cross F1706 will spike before August/September. I like your first flower, lots of potential for a great overall flower. Smooth and nice color, good form, an a beautiful lip!
