Re: Weird looking Plant

Yes this is one of several amorphophallus impressive blooms. I had the chance of seeing one (different ssp.) when I visited Jakarta botanical garden a few years ago... The flower gets out of the ground at some point (when the plant decides to wake up) and will open for only a few days before fading ...

Re: 2014 Jakarta Garden Expo

The Vanda coerulea alba are available here in the USA for 100-200$ (small plants).
Woo for the Vanda tricolor albescens... I was not surprised when you wrote 4500$. Wish you luck for the selfing flask.
Send me one seedling :P

I also forgot to mention that
5X 20$ does not equal 100$
Funny one

Re: The old $100 notes, Can I still use it at the US?

Still good until recalled and destroyed. But I understand your concern: I have been to Indonesia a few time and people would look not only At the shape of the bills you give them But also the first letter of it... Just stupid... So that a hundred would be worth only 95$ or 80$. Anyway, this did not ...

Re: Phal violacea and amboinensis

Congratulations Brian on the flowers...
And these Phal. violacea seedlings look very big already.
I love the brown/greenish marking on your amboinensis.
All good.

Re: Interesting Cross ?!!

Yes Louisiana Orchid Connection (LOC) is doing a pre-sale
for 3 different intergeneric crosses between Phalaenopsis and Aerangis/Aerenthes/Angreacum
They anticipate that seedlings will be ready for summer 2015.

The two other crosses I described with links are not for sale anymore.

Cant even say that... just very strange.
Not sweet for sure. I guess I will need to grow different ones to compare with.

Re: Phal. amboinensis 'Tejas Giant' AM/AOS

Well, I never had any amboinensis before and I cant really compare the smell to anything.
To me it has a leather-like smell. Is that expected?
Can anyone add anything related to amboinensis' smell?
Thank you very much,
Emmanuel

Re: Interesting Cross ?!!

This will be indeed an interesting stuff to grow and to bloom. You can actually check the two following links that deal with such intergeneric crosses. The first one, made by Ron Ciesinski (Taylor Orchids, MI), is Paraphalraecum Memoria Barbara Oviatt ( Angraecum magdalenae X Paraphalaenopsis Kolopa...

Phal. amboinensis 'Tejas Giant' AM/AOS

Purchased this stem prop last June in Florida.
Was my first time visiting Krull-Smith's.
This plant put a new spike with one single flower.
Love the marking and flat flower.
