I heard the news here and also saw the memorial page on Facebook, and it's great to see all the good that is being done by all of the volunteers. I never met Carol myself, but she was definitely a person who always brought a cheery presence here. It's awesome that her namesake orchid didn't get lost in the process of moving her plants and animals to new homes, and it's very kind of the originator to let it be named in her honour.

Just learned about Carol's passing. What a sad shock! She will leave a large and empty place on this forum. Hard to believe she's gone. Just very very sad.

Oh I'm so glad you selfed it, and I hope it takes!! The plant looks nice and healthy.

Great news, and wow what a plant! I want some! And not to change subjects, but what is that nice red/purple there in the top right.

You know it's a great forum when you search for "bellina" and it returns this from the server:

Today would have been Carol's 70th birthday.

Thank's for posting Peter! Carol, tonight, after work we are going to have a drink on your 70th. When I'm in our orchidroom I often see plants which I wanted to talk to you about and for a moment I think I still could, then realizing that you are no longer here...

Carol Darnell (horses_too) will be missed

Here is an update photo. Selfing seedpod doesn't look too good. Also strange to see flower markings much darker than before. It's common for color to change depending on the growing condition - amount of light the plant receives.

Also I can see lumps from applying keiki paste by Carol. This is the reason that I don't use keiki paste. this doesn't look like it's going anywhere. Stem prop's would be easier - if we can find someone to do it. I would probably ask CJ but he does it only if he likes the flower. :)

Interesting there Peter. Can you try the selfing again, or are you gonna let the plant rest for a short bit. I've not tried stemming yet and don't have the BAP, so I'd only get a single plant most likely. Maybe I'll have to give it a shot :p.
