Phal gigantea question

Post by edge » Sun Aug 16, 2015 11:21 am

Given that Phal gigantea does not like to be disturbed, is there a least bad time to repot it? Spring maybe?

Maybe Peter will answer. My guess would be to repot in May/June, and avoid repotting in winter months. I don't really grow gigantea, but I do grow several primaries and hybrids with gigantea. They are actively growing strong in the late spring through summer months and that's when I'd be most confidant to repot. Capitalize on having the majority of your best part of the growing season out in front of You, after the repot.

It's best to repot when plant is actively growing. This means late spring-summer. Do be careful repotting in summer that plant needs to stay shaded while in recovering.

Thanks for the advice. So - like most Phals except that it's a bit touchier? I'll wait until next spring/early summer.
