Blue breeding - Coffee color from Phal speciosa

Okay, this hybrid isn't exactly using 'Coffee' or 'Jiaho Coffee' of Phalaenopsis speciosa.

This is from Mituo Orchids looking to make blue color.

AM669 Phal (speciosa X Mituo Prince 'Blue')

Mr Chen of Mituo Orchids said he used the red flower of Phal speciosa

I like the bluish lip - but the rest of the flower is 'coffee'

speciosa looks more and more, every year, like the "White Wizard" of the Hobbit movies, stirring a Cauldron of genes over an open flame and producing the unexpected...frequently. Ah, so much fun to come! Eye of newt, wing of bat, pollen from speciosa … sounds like a good recipe for breeding to me :lol: :lol: :lol:
